Argentine coach wary of Nigerian threat
Argentina coach Sergio Batista is well aware of the threat of opponents Nigeria in the run-up to the final of the men’s Olympic football tournament on Saturday (August 23rd).

Batista was eager not to get carried away with a resounding 3-0 victory of rivals Brazil in the semi-final.

Defending champions Argentina saw the floodgates open in the second half as the Brazilian defence meekly surrendered to their swift attacking play - Sergio Aguero grabbed a brace before Juan Riquelme got the third.

Ahead of the golf medal match, Goal reported Batista saying: “We are celebrating this victory that is very important for us, and now we are thinking about Nigeria, who will be very difficult rivals.

“Nigeria will be a complicated team, but for now we are enjoying the victory over Brazil.”

Nigeria have a decorated Olympic history, winning the gold in Atlanta in 1996, beating none other than Argentina 3-2 in the final.
