Carrick sidelined for Czech Republic game
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has been ruled out of England’s upcoming friendly against the Czech Republic after injuring his ankle in weekend action.

Carrick limped off after 25 minutes of United’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle and is expected to be out for the next two to three weeks.

National team boss Fabio Capello, has drafted in Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermaine Jenas as a replacement for Carrick.

Jenas has managed to hold down a first team place in Juande Ramos’s Spurs midfield and was named vice-captain to Ledley King ahead of this season.

Capello has left out Spurs striker Darren Bent from the squad for the fixture on Wednesday (August 20th) despite his red-hot pre-season form.

The Italian has opted for the frontline foursome of Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Theo Walcott and Emile Heskey, with Michael Owen and Dean Ashton out injured.
