Derby aiming for victory
Derby County manager Paul Jewell has said that he wants to overcome a weekend defeat by beating Lincoln City in the League Cup tonight (August 12th).
The rams increased their winless run to 33 games at the weekend but Jewell said he is certain that the team can end the drought in order to boost morale.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the Derby boss said: “Our main focus is the League and nothing will get in the way of that but we need to get a result from somewhere to boost our confidence and boost the confidence of the supporters.”
He went on to say that the most important thing was to turn Derby into a “winning team, whatever the competition”.
However, Derby have not had a history of doing well in the League Cup and have been defeated at the first-round stage in three of the last five seasons.
Nevertheless, Jewell guided Wigan to the final when he was boss in 2006 and Derby look hopeful for tonight.
