Pompey set to bolster defence with Kaboul
Portsmouth are seeking to add to their defensive department before the start of the new Premier League season with the signing of Younes Kaboul from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old is expected at Fratton Park today (Monday, August 11th) to undergo a medical, which if successful, could see him join for an undisclosed fee.
Kaboul, a France-qualified player born in Morocco, was also reportedly being tracked by Aston Villa and Sunderland. He signed for Spurs from Auxerre in 2007.
Assistant manager Joe Jordan expressed his excitement at the prospect of securing the deal: “He’s a player who’s the right age and who we’ll need
“He’s at the right age, he’ll learn from playing alongside Sol Campbell. He’ll gain that experience that all players need and hopefully he’ll be the player we’re looking for.”
Pompey lost in last weekend’s Community Shield against Manchester United, but kept a clean sheet as the match was deadlocked at 0-0 after 90 minutes.
