Newcastle in Collocini swoop
Newcastle United may a be a step close to solving their defensive woes wit the signing of Fabricio Collocini from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.
If an improvement is to be seen by Kevin Keegan’s outfit in this season’s Premier League, it is no secret that a leaky back-line must be addressed.
The Argentine international, with 27 caps to his name, was previously at AC Milan where he struggled to break into the first team set-up.
He was then loaned to San Lorenzo, Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Villareal before settling for a move to Deportivo in 2005.
A top-quality central defender has been at the top of Newcastle’s priority list for a while - the Magpies concded 65 goals last season, more than relegated Birmingham City.
“I don’t fear the Premier League. I love it and I watch it a lot. I will be a big hit. I am confident a move will go through, the former Boca Juniors man, who is expected to join for a fee of up to £10.3 million, told the People.
