West Ham concern over Bellamy injury
West Ham’s pre-season preparations have been dealt a blow after striker Craig Bellamy limped off during a friendly against Ipswich Town.
The Hammers already have a depleted forward line after striker Bobby Zamora was sold to Fulham and now they could be without the Wales captain for the first game of the Premier League season.
Bellamy has opened the scoring after successfully chipping stopper Richard Wright from 20 yards. The game ended 5-3 to the Londoners.
“It is too early to say what the extent of the injury is,” boss Alan Curbishley told the Sun. “We took him off as a precaution - hopefully before the injury became too serious.”
After being taken off on 24 minutes, Bellamy was alleged to have been involved in an altercation with a member of the Portman Road crowd. The 29-year-old started his career at the Tractor Boys’ fierce rivals -Norwich City.
