Chelsea are gathering reinforcements for their push to reclaim the Premier League crown this season, completing the transfer of creative midfielder Deco from Barcelona
The west London club have paid £8 million for the 30-year-old, who gave a decent showing in Portugal’s Euro 2008 campaign scoring one goal.
Now incoming coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will be hoping Deco’s intuition and industry in midfield can help launch another assault on the title this season.
Deco said of the move: “I am sure I have come at the right time to do great things and be able to help Chelsea go back to the way it was and come back to being the first one, not only in England but also to win the Champions League that has been their dream for so long.”
Champions Manchester United will be eager to bolster their squad after losing out to Arsenal in the race to sign Welsh whizzkid Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff City.
