Liverpool’s Torres can be great, says Aragone
Fernando Torres, who scored the only goal in Spain’s Euro 2008 final against Germany, is set for greatness with club and country, according to his national team boss.
While many Premiership teams will be scouring Europe for hotshot strikers who can provide goals in the coming campaign, Liverpool are safe in the knowledge that, Torres, one of the world’s best, is theirs.
And coach Luis Aragones believes the man who helped Liverpool to a Champions League final and notched 33 goals in his first season in the Premier League is destined for great things.
He said: “Fernando is a great player for Liverpool and for our team and he can go anywhere because he has really extraordinary speed and he knows how to dribble.
“We always tell him he’s a player who is so young that he can learn to do everything and there is no doubt he can be one of the best players in the world.”
Torres was a 20 million signing last summer from Atletico Madrid, a club he captained at the tender age of 19.
While Manchester United will be going for a third consecutive league crown, Torres will be hoping to be part of Liverpool’s first title-winning side since 1990.
