Kazim-Richards excited by semi-final prospect
Turkey’s British-born forward Colin Kazim-Richards is excited by the prospect of tomorrow (Wednesday, June 24th) night’s Euro 2008 semi-final against favourites Germany.
The Fenerbache winger could be asked to play up front after striker Nihat was ruled out with an injury picked up in the quarter-final against Croatia.
But the 21-year-old appears unfazed by the task ahead, even considering the injury and suspension crisis which Turkey find themselves in the midst of.
Kazim-Richards told Sky Sports News: “Any team would trade places with us. To have 13 players and still be in the tournament, we are in a win-win situation.
“We are going into the semi-finals and playing one of the biggest games in the history of Turkish football.”
Born to a Turkish-Cypriot mother, Kazim-Richards came to Fenerbache in 2007 after playing in England for Bury, Brighton and Hove Albion and Sheffield United.
